NY JETS 2014 Mock Draft

by mvpisano

we should be getting 12 picks in this draft. we have 2 3's and should be getting 4 compensatory picks, I won't include those in this draft because I don't know which rounds they will be in. as for offseason moves, I have the Jets signing Brian Orakpo to a 4yr/36 mil deal. Sanchez and Santonio are both gone to free up cap.

1. Jets: Sammy Watkins WR Clemson

Round 1: I expect the Jets to pick somewhere in the top 10. I have us going receiver here, we need offensive playmakers early. if Watkins isn't available I would go Mike Evans or Marqise Lee. we should be able to land one of them. anyway Watkins is the type of receiver who is great for Geno's development. he has great speed, solid hands and is one of the best route runners coming into the draft. him along with Stephen Hill and Jeremy Kerley would be great for Geno Smith.

2. Jets: Gabe Jackson OG Mississippi State

Round 2: we went OLine heavy in last years draft but Ducasse just doesn't seem to get it. he has all the tools to be great but his football IQ is just terrible. Gabe Jackson is his replacement. imo Gabe is an NFL ready linemen. he has all the tangibles to be a great linemen and he will be on the line with two pro bowlers in Brick and Mangold.

3. Jets: Austin Seferian-Jenkins TE Washington

Round 3: this is ERIC EBRON, TE from UNC. Ebron is a huge athletic TE, another tool for Geno. he has great speed for such a big guy.

4. Jets: Craig Loston S LSU

Round 3: we need a safety somewhere in this draft and I would happy to take Loston in the third. Dawan Landry isn't getting younger, but we should keep him around to be a mentor to Loston and our other young safeties. Loston has a great IQ for the safety position.

5. Jets: Jared Abbrederis WR Wisconsin

Round 4: we add another receiver. with Santonio gone we need to stack up in case one of our guys doesn't pan out. Abbrederis is a reliable receiver. he has good hands and is also very quick. he suffers from poor QB play in Wisconsin but still manages to get a lot of catches week in and week out.

6. Jets: Dri Archer RB Kent State

Round 5: we take another offensive playmaker. Archer can play RB or receiver but for us he will be our punt/kick returner. very similar to Trindon Holliday, he's small but has blazing speed. we need that explosiveness on our ST, because it isn't getting the job done this season.

7. Jets: Jack Mewhort OT Ohio State

Round 6: this is OLine depth pick.

8. Jets: Andrew Miller C Virginia Tech

Round 7: more OLine depth.
